Stack members that are powered on within the same 20-second time frame participate. When you power on or reset an entire switch stack, some stack members might not participate in the stack master election. The switch stack membership is increased by adding powered-on standalone switches or switch stacks.* In the events marked by an asterisk (*), the current stack master might be reelected based on the listed factors. Last Reload reason on Active switch: stack merge due to incompatiblity Last Reload reason on Standby switch: stack merg The stack master is reset or powered off. Stack cables are properly connected and securely tightened. This issue is seen on C9200L switch stacks also. Symptom: C9200 stack member switches reset intermittently with reset reason as stack merge. This is likely a victim of the why the active/standby switches went down or potentially an indication that redundancy is not syncing correctly. If the stack is an unstable state or redundancy policy have not synced yet, this can be seen. When the active fails, if there is no standby switch to assume the active role for the stack, then the entire stack will reset.
